Shutdown Procedures

GERSTEL Instrumentation Shutdown Procedures

For your GC or GC-MS please follow the recommendations of the manufacturer for proper shutdown procedure. Once the GC or GC-MS has been shut down, please follow the instructions below to properly shut down your GERSTEL equipment:

MPS Robotic Pro

  • Go to Extended User Level > Options > Shutdown
  • Turn power off to the unit

MPS -xt or MPS Robotic

  • Remove the syringe/tool from the MPS using the hand held keypad
  • Turn off power
  • Manually position the injection unit over a wash station or tray holder so that the unit has somewhere safe to rest while shut down

TDU/TDU 2/TD 3.5+/TDS/Pyrolysis

  • Remove the syringe/tool from the MPS using the hand held keypad
  • Turn off power
  • Manually position the injection unit over a wash station or tray holder so that the unit has somewhere safe to rest while shut down

UPC+

  • Disconnect coolant feed line (blue) from the TDU and place end in a beaker
  • Press the “Pump” button on the back of the UPC+ until all coolant has drained from unit
  • Reconnect coolant feed line
  • Power off UPC

C506

  • Turn off power

Olfactory Detection Port (ODP)

  • Shut off gases connected to ODP pneumatic box if possible to stop make up and humidifier flow
  • If heated by C200 or other heating source, turn power off to that unit
  • If heated by the GC, no additional actions required
