Optimizing ODP Connections
The GERSTEL Olfactory Detector Systems (ODP3, ODP 4) split the flow from your capillary column into 2 or more fixed restrictors that are carefully calculated to ensure both proper flow through your column as well as co-elution of analytes at all your detectors. Removing one of those restrictors (the ODP for instance) and replacing it with a plug will create a high back-pressure in the splitter and may cause significant retention time shifts. If you would like to remove the ODP from the flow path, we highly recommend you connect your column directly to your analytical detector and remove the splitter and all restrictors from the GC oven.
