AWS
item Active Wash Station
The Active Wash Station (AWS) reduces carry-over and cycle time, prevents injector valve plugging and conserves wash solvent when compared with the standard fast wash station and add-on valve wash kits. The device back flushes the injector valve with a one-two punch of solvents, while simultaneously and more efficiently washing the syringe.
The AWS relies on two self priming PTFE micro pumps mounted next to the valve drive, a special needle guide assembly and a tubing set including check valve. Immediately following sample loading and valve switching, the pumps are activated. Cleaning solvent flows through the valve and connectors, through the inside of the needle seal and is aspirated by the injection syringe. All parts are flushed in one efficient cleaning step.
Following the selected syringe cleaning time, the injection syringe needle is lowered and the remaining sample between valve waste port and check valve is flushed. Two different solvents can be used to cover a wide range of polarities. The AWS enables cleaning of the entire sample flow path in a single highly efficient step, combining injection cycle times of < 30 seconds with lowest possible carry-over.
A study at a major pharmaceutical company showed that a GERSTEL MPS 3C with Active Wash Station eliminated carry-over for a ‘sticky’ dicarboxylic acid compound within a 60 second cycle time with 2 mL of wash solvent.
The Active Wash Station does not require additional software or custom macros. An upgrade kit is available for your MPS 3 or CTC PAL.
